"Justin Bulova, a spokesman representing Grades of Green, said the city continues to be a leader in sustainability, noting that Manhattan Beach is proactive in addressing environmental problems and giving local youth a chance to participate.
Grades of Green student presentations to city council, he added, played an important role in recent bans on single-use plastics, such as straws and utensils, last year, as well as polystyrene foam and balloons earlier this year.
“I believe it’s because the local government is so welcoming to innovative student solutions,” Bulova explained. “We’re going to be honoring Manhattan Beach for their participation in our programs and allowing our students the opportunity.”
